Verizon increases Total Mobile Protection monthly cost, lowers replacement cost

LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 21: A Verizon store is seen April 21, 2011 in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Verizon announced today that it activated 2.2 million iPhones during the first quarter, helping the company more than triple its profit from a year ago. The company reported earnings of $1.4 billion on revenue of $27 billion for the quarter. With the holiday season wrapping up, the deals are dying down and reality is setting back in. To kick off the New Year, Verizon is switching up its Total Mobile Protection plan. The company is lowering the replacement cost for lost or broken devices to $89. To make up for the lower replacement cost, Verizon is increasing the monthly cost of Total Mobile Protection. New customers will pay $13/month, while existing customers will continue to pay $11/month until March 6, when their monthly cost will increase to the new $13 rate.

Verizon is also touting nationwide cracked screen repairs, with options for mailing in your phone, bringing it to a repair center, or having a repair technician come to you. Additionally, Verizon will reimburse customers who have cracked screen repairs performed internationally.
